Bluff
Bluff had a short winning history on the race track. He came off with no physical injuries, but his psychological damages were dramatic. We have worked him through most of them, and now he is ready to be re-homed. He is fairly easy to ride both on the trail and in the arena.
His "trust" circle has expanded dramatically. He will come to most girls/women who approach him appropriately (slowly and in a non threatening manner). He will come to some men, but it takes more work.
He is easy to work with. He takes a little work to mount, slow and easy, and doesn't like to be startled (but what horse does?).
He rewards you by adoring being brushed, hand fed (which we seldom do with most of our horses...some over time will show a propensity to nipping...to much of a risk), being petted, and appreciating you every moment.
He will call to you, and be fun on the trail and in the arena. His walk trot is easy...his canter is fine if your legs don't swing, or you don't jab him.
He has a "safety on his canter" so he will come back to walk or trot with a simple cue.
He has led going out, followed, been in the middle of the pack, been through water; every week we try to expand his trail vocabulary.
He needs to be with other horses. Happiest in a herd of 3 -5. He does not like to be in stalls. He does ok in good size paddocks with company next door.
Part of his abuse was being tied in a stall with bailing twine. When we got him he would spin in his paddock. We haven't seen that behavior in over six months. He continues to be more trusting and a giving as a companion and a mount.
For someone who wants a best friend, or second best friend, he will be in your heart forever.
We have put thousands of dollars into healing Bluff.
We are asking $1500 for this special horse. Any above that would be welcomed as a tax deductible donation to welltrainedhorses, to help save other horses like Bluff.
