Volunteer of the Month
August: Margie Berger for her dependibility over a year of volunteering, giving wed. buckets, working w. our rescues, and providing great photographs of horses, campers, and the beauty that surrounds us here. Helping fill-in on shifts when no one else is available. Margie also did a knock out job, along w. her husband of selling raffle tix!
September: Theresa Simmons for hauling rescue horses to new homes, temporary homes, and bringing them here to be re-homed. t. brings her great sense of humor at 6 am arrivals and has always answered when we call for help. Additionally, Theresa has offered, and we have gratefully accepted her offer, to take two of our horses to "tune up" & prepare for sale.
October: Margorie Jorgensen for taking on our mailing lists, giving a jump start on our files, photographing/videoing any thing Margie isn't available for. Completing our 501.3, taking on our holiday mailing campaigns, with invaluable guidance from leah daniels, and much more. Fixing printers, computers and being so much more than "our girl saturday". marjorie also brings along her son robert, who never is at a loss for words in sharing information he has learned here, and is developing his own style with a manure fork. (Marjorie is our third volunteer of the month to be actively involved in dog rescue!)
We will honor all of our volunteers of the month at our annual raffle drawing and party on Sunday, July 10th in Forestville, 2011.
Colleen Simmons will co-chair the raffle. We would love someone to take on the food, w. last years donation list, music, and/or wine.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to help save horses lives
brushing and grooming horses
cleaning stalls & waters
handwalking horses
handyman/person (carpentry, welding, plumbing, fencing, & simple repairs)
We ask that all skilled workers volunteer at least 3 hours per week, but do not need to make a commitment beyond a one time/one job project. We ask you to go through our orientation, paid, or volunteer hours (10),
after 6 hours of "volunteering..."
If you want to work w/ horses, and are skilled we ask you go through our basic orientation and training, after 6 hours of "volunteering work" we will provide you with one ground or riding lesson, after 10 hours w/ another. We like all of our volunteers who work with horses to go through this informative process.
Every five hours of volunteering you will receive a lesson that is most in line with your needs.
If you have had some experience w/ horses, but are a novice ( concepts of handling, ground work, and riding, are new to you, we ask that you go thru 15 hours of training).
trainings for novices will be offered every 6 weeks and will be posted on our website.
